When Mrs. Jim's Toshiba laptop broke it's on/off switch it became impossible to use, i.e. it CRASHED.  She now has a new 13" Dell Inspiron two-in-one.  But she was missing her old pictures and posts and documents.

Our SIL, Bill, suggested she get a case to put her hard drive into and either use it as an external hard drive or upload the info she needed into her new Dell.  She has opted for the second for the moment.

Bill removed her hard drive and inserted into this case, a Hard Drive Enclosure  as shown in the picture.  The case has a removable end for doing that, and it now is screwed in place after plugging it into the output plug of the case.

We weren't quite ready yet though, as the Enclosure has a 3.1 USB fitting and we had to order a USB 3.1 to USB 2.1/1.1 cable to hook it up to her Dell.  It takes computer power to drive the drive through this cable as well as the saved data.

Be sure the one you get will work with the hard drive installed from your old computer.
