Day Fifteen of March Spiky Squares!

It is full of spiky antenna like rods sticking up in the air.  Real Spiky. For sure a landlubber I don't know what kind of ship this is.  A large fishing boat?  A patrol boat?  Not a tug boat?  I duno.

 

Here is the original before I 'narrowed it down.'

 

 

I hope this picture will help you figure out what it is for me.

 

It was riding on the Texas Gulf Coast section of the Intercostal Canal about to go in front of us who were waiting for the ferry boat to arrive.  We would go from the marshes over to the town of Cameron, Louisiana.

 

Note:  I will post other SPIKY SQUARES posts for this month of March.  But not everyday, I have other things to do besides Blogging and being Retired.

Plage(beach) de Beauduc road cairns near Arles, Provence, France

.

 

This is a Google Earth picture of the beach road going to Beauduc Beach (Plage de Beauduc) near Arles, France.  The blue stripe is from my Googling the route from Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, France, to the Plage de Beauduc on to the coast from Arles.  Towards the beach is down and to the left. I used St. Remy because I was familiar with its location having stayed there for a week in

the spring of 2006.

 

Of interest to me was the little row of "dot"s along the road on its left hand side as we go towards the beach.  I believe these were the ones discussed and pictured (see above) on my blogging friend Lynn's Blog (link).  Lynn calls them 'cairns' (link) and was speculating on their origin.

 

I believe they were "planted" in the horse and carriage days to help keep the carriages from going off the road in case the horses decided to stray off the road on that side.

We met them at her school and
she skipped all the way home

This is a bird's nest that KP made in school this week for the letter "N" (nest)
It is sitting in a predominate location waiting for the little birdies to hatch out

Please don't worry about the eggs hatching.  We aren't.

The ingredients for her creation:
Molten chocolate
Six candy chocolate candy coated bird eggs
Ample amount of corn flakes cereal
One small aluminum baking pan
 

Our trip to Blue Bell -- Free ice cream, free tour!

These are the pictures I took on our visit to the Blue Bell Ice Cream plant last Friday, September 19, 2008. Our granddaughter, BP was out of school that week for Hurricane Ike recovery so the three of us, BP, Mrs. Jim, and I drove up to Brenham, Texas, for our visit.

Our visit included a tour which was free as their gift to the many affected by the hurricane. There were a lot of children on the tour. One of the employees said that this season generally has hardly children visiting. They knew there just wasn't anything exciting to do in Houston with no power, little food, and the other hardships.

The first picture is my favorite, our ice cream was included in the tour. This time they gave us double dips.

BP had Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough , Mrs. Jim. had Pecan Caramel Fudge, and I had Strawberry. I can't eat nuts anymore or I would have loved to have had something with pecans. (Flavors of the month link)

The old truck at the bottom is a 1932 Model B Ford. The Model B trucks and cars used a four cylinder engine rather than the new for 1932 Flathead V-8 (eight cylinder) engine.
